T. Stevens Bliss - Attorney at Law


T. Stevens Bliss was educated at Johns Hopkins University, where he received a Bachelor of Arts degree, and Temple University School of Law, where he received a Juris Doctor degree. He was admitted to the Connecticut Bar in 1969. Mr. Bliss has been admitted to practice before the following Courts, in addition to the Connecticut Court: U.S. District Court for Connecticut, the U.S. Court of Appeals, 2nd Circuit, U.S. District Court, Southern District of New York, U.S. District Court, Eastern District of New York, and the United States Supreme Court.

Mr. Bliss has been a member of a number of Professional Associations, including: American Bar Association, Connecticut Bar Association, Danbury Bar Association, New Milford Bar Association, American Trial Lawyers Association and the Connecticut Trial Lawyers Association. In 1986, he was appointed to be a Fact Finder and Attorney Trial Referee in the Danbury Judicial District, where he conducted pretrial conferences, and presided at Court trials.

He started his local practice as a Staff Attorney for the Regional Legal Services program for Fairfield County in the Danbury office. He subsequently accepted an appointment as a full-time Public Attorney for the Criminal Court, Geographic Area #3 in Danbury, which covered both the Danbury and New Milford Area. In 1976, He opened his own general practice in Danbury, with a strong emphasis on Criminal and Legal defense. In the following years, he developed his general practice, adding civil litigation, personal injury, and estate administration as an emphasis in his practice. He concentrated on the area of uninsured motorist insurance coverage, and was involved in several important issues heard by the Connecticut Supreme Court. In the past fifteen years, Mr. Bliss has developed a residential and commercial real estate practice which covers the greater Danbury and New Milford area.

A resident of Brookfield for a number of years, Mr. Bliss was elected to the Board of Finance in 1981, and served for eight years in that position. Since that time Mr. Bliss has moved to New Milford, and has devoted his volunteer time to the Regional YMCA of Western Connecticut, where he has served on the Board of Directors for six years, four of them as Chairman, and currently as a Trustee. He further has an interest in Alternative Dispute Resolution, and is a member of the Executive Board of the Center for Collaboration at Western Connecticut State University.
